Monday, December 8 2003 - 01:21 AM WIB

The government will sign an MoU today with a visiting delegation from China's Fujian province aimed at boosting cooperation in the energy sector particularly in LNG, Director General of Oil and Gas Iin Arifin Takhyan said on Monday.

He said that the MoU was part of efforts to nearly double Indonesia's LNG supply to Fujian to around 5 million tons per year.

He did not say when this could be realized.

Indonesia has won a 25-year contract to supply 2.6 million tons of LNG per year to Fujian starting from 2007. The LNG will come from the Tangguh LNG plant in Papua province.

Indonesia hopes to raise LNG supply to Fujian as the latter government plans to increase the province's LNG receiving terminal's to 5 million tons.(Alex)
