RI is the worst in energy saving program

Speaking in a seminar on energy conservation in Jakarta on Thursday, Dicky Edwin of the Energy Conservation Forum said that the wasteful use of the energy particularly electricity should be stopped or Indonesia would experience a serious shortage of electricity supply.
He said in Java alone, the extra electricity capacity is only about 330 MW at present, which is very small compared to the overall electricity usage.
If the energy users both households and corporate customers in the country are involved in the energy conservation program, Indonesia could at least save electricity supply equivalent to about 3.13 million tons of oil.
According to him, the awareness on the need to preserve the energy in Indonesia is still very low not only on individual users but also on institutional customers. (*)
