RI needs investors to develop renewable energy sources: Minister

Interim Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Luhut Panjaitan said that Indonesia needs more investors to help develop the country?s renewables energy sector.

Speaking at the opening of the 15th World Renewable Energy Congress 2016 (15th WREC) on Tuesday, he said that investors are the government?s partner in dealing with challenges in the development of the renewables sector.

He said that the sector will play an important role in the country?s economic development.

The September 19-23 congress is held in Jakarta, where experts, policymakers, investors, business leaders, financial institutions, civil organizations, and international donors gathered to share knowledge, best practices and latest innovation in the bid to increase the use of renewable sources of energy.

The congress among others discusses the issue of solar, wind, hydro, marine, and biomass energy systems as well as energy conservation measures.
