RI needs to have national fuel stocks enough for 42 days

Monday, November 7 2005 - 02:27 AM WIB

Indonesia must have the stock of fuel reserves for up to 42 days of consumption. These reserves will include strategic petroleum reserves (SPR) for 20 days and PT Pertamina's commercial stocks for 22 days, the Investor Daily Indonesia reported in its Monday edition.

"The main aim is to maintain the fuel stocks at safe level. Currently we may take it easy, but if there will be a problem in supplies, we will panic," Indonesia's governor to OPEC (Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries) Maizar Rahman said recently in Jakarta.

Presently, Indonesia has national fuel stocks, which are enough for just 20 to 22 days. These stocks are being maintained by the state oil and gas firm Pertamina.

Indonesia has no SPR at this moment. (*)
