The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources plans to limit the country?s coal production at between 425-450 million tons per year to help conserve existing reserves for future domestic need.
Director General of Mineral and Coal at the ministry, R. Sukhyar said Thursday that if coal production could be limited, the country?s existing coal reserves could still last for another 100 years.
He added that going forward, the government will prioritize the coal production for domestic use, meaning that export would only be made after the entire domestic demand has been fulfilled. (*)
