The ministry of energy and mineral resources has revised downward the country's coal output target for this year to 80 million tons from the initial target of 84 million tons.
Mahyudin Lubis, director of mineral and coal ventures, told Petromindo.Com on Saturday that it would be difficult for the country to reach the initial target of 84 millions given the labor strike at coal companies.
"We estimate the country's coal output at 80 million tons this year," he said.
Last year, Indonesia produced 76 million tons of coal.
Head of utilization subdirectorate at the ministry Boni Siahaan said aside from labor strike, illegal mining would continue troubling coal companies this year. (Godang)
