RI?s electricity generation capacity to expand to 50,733 MW this year

Director General of Electricity Jarman said that the total capacity of the country?s power plants is projected to increase to 50,733 MW this year, with additional 3,605 MW capacity to come on stream from plants being developed under the so-called phase 1 and 2 fast-track program.

In comparison, total capacity last year was 47,128 MW, and 45,253 MW in the previous year, added Jarman, speaking at a hearing session with the House of Representatives Commission VII overseeing the energy and mining sector on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the electrification ratio in the Southeast Asia?s largest economy is targeted to increase to 81.51 percent this year from 80.51 percent last year, and 76.56 percent in 2012, he said.
