RI's gas reserves equal to 2 percent of world reserves

Indonesia oil and gas reserves are estimated each to be 1 percent and 2 percent of the world's total reserves, according to a senior government official.
Expert to the minister of mines and energy Hadi Prasetyo was quoted by the Bisnis Indonesia daily as saying that the country's oil and gas reserves portion lower than its population which accounted for 5 percent of the world's population.
He said that the imbalance condition was one factor causing the country be a net oil importer soon.
Hadi said that the country has to immediately come up with a new energy policy. (*)
