Indonesia will recommend at the next meeting of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries that the group maintain its current output quota, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro said Monday. The Jakarta Post reported on Tuesday.
However, the massive earthquake that devastated the city of Yogyakarta in Central Java province on Saturday may prevent him from attending the formal meeting of OPEC ministers in Caracas on Thursday, Purnomo said without further elaboration.
OPEC, the source of 40 percent of the world?s crude oil, has maintained an official production ceiling of 28 million barrels a day since July 2005. (*)
