The Riau Legislative Council (DPRD Riau) will review the tender procedures imposed by the oil giant PT Caltex Pacific Indonesia (CPI) following the termination of the contracts of the company?s two maintenance services providers PT Supraco and PT Gunawan Sarana Agung, Neraca reported on Friday.

Mujito, the chairman of the council?s Commission V, said in Pekanbaru on Thursday that the review would be made because the company had allegedly appointed new contractors to replace the two companies without a tender process.

"According to information from the former workers of PT Supraco and PT Gunawan, Caltex had replaced the two companies although the tender for the replacement of the companies? contracts had not been made," he said.

Hundreds of former workers of PT Supraco and PT Gunawan met the council?s members to report their employment problem following the cut in the contracts of the two companies. The workers fear that there will be unfair layoff measure due to the cut in their companies? contracts.

Caltex officials earlier said that the maintenance services works would be retendered and PT Supraco and PT Gunawan would be given to the chance to take part in the new tender which would also be participated by several other companies. (*)
