Rig Tenders to boost coal transport capacity

Publicly listed shipping and offshore support company PT Rig Tenders Indonesia Tbk has planned to buy nine used boats worth US$5.43 million from Singapore-based Danamon Marine Service Pte Ltd to anticipate coal transportation demands in South Kalimantan Province.

Rig Tenders said in a statement to the Jakarta Stock Exchange that the nine boats consisted of 4 tugboats and 5 barges with a combined dead weight tonnage of 3,712 tons.

Rig Tenders also said it would hold a shareholders meeting on June 16 to get approval for the plan.

Transaction for the purchase is expected to be completed this year, Rig Tenders added.

Rig Tenders, together with its major shareholder Singapore's Chuan Hup Holdings Ltd, had secured long-term coal transportation contracts from the province-based coal producers PT.Adaro Indonesia and PT. Arutmin Indonesia.(robert)
