RIMS Energy to start exploration drilling in E. Java offshore oil, gas block

Local oil and gas explorer RIMS Energy Karapan Limited plans to drill three exploration wells in Karapan production sharing contract (PSC) block, offshore East Java in 2002, according to a company official.

?We are going to start drilling in March 2002. Our commitment for exploration drilling in 2002 is US$ 22 million,? said Gadjah Eko Pireno, RIMS? exploration manager on a sideline of a gathering Wednesday.

RIMS Energy had recently acquired 100 percent working interest in Karapan PSC from PT. Wirabuana Pan Resources Karapan.

The block is located adjacent to Gulf Indonesia Resources? Ketapang exploration block where significant oil and gas had just been discovered.(*)
