Road shows required to promote 17 oil, gas blocks

Promotion through websites is not enough for the government to lure many more foreign investors on the country?s 17 new oil and gas blocks, a source at state oil and gas firm Pertamina told Petromindo.Com on Saturday.

?As a matter of fact, we need to hold many overseas road shows. Not many people visit websites,? the source said.

So far, only 12 investors have expressed interest to bid for oil and gas exploration on 17 blocks tendered by the government in early 2002. Nearly all of the investors had got information on the oil blocks through websites.

The blocks are located in Natuna Sea (1), Central and offshore East Kalimantan (3), South Sulawesi (2), Seram in Maluku (2), Arafura Sea offshore Papua (6), and Makassar Straits (3). (godang)
