Road to Pertamina oil field blockaded

Hundreds of local villagers blockaded on Tuesday the only road to the Tambun I oil field of the state owned oil and gas firm Pertamina in Bekasi, West Java, the Republika daily reported.

The paper said that the people from the Budi Bakti and Kedung Pengawas villages in Babelan sub district were protesting a 10 km road damage caused by Pertamina's heavy trucks.

The villagers, who have long complained the road damage, wanted the local administration and Pertamina to repair the road.

No incident occurred during the protest. The villagers reopened the road after the local police came.

The Tambun I oil field has nine wells with potential production of 18,000 barrel of oil per day per well. So far, only one well has been producing. (*)
