Roadblock continues, KEM stops production

Blockade of the public access road continues today stopping logistics deliveries from Jelemuq River wharf to the mine site of PT Kelian Equatorial Mining (KEM). Persuasive approaching have been made by KEM, community leaders and government but fail to lift the blockade.

President Director of KEM John Vale stated that KEM has stopped production as of today. This includes mining production activities and the process plant. Workers in mining operations and process plant are on stand by.

Meanwhile land compensation negotiation continues between KEM and community representatives with Team of West Kutai District acting as a moderator. Tomorrow KEM will meet LKMTL, JATAM and Walhi to discuss the current situation. (*)
