ASX-listed Robust Resources limited announced the commencement of the 2013 drilling campaign at the Company?s 77.5% owned Lakuwahi Project on Romang Island.
An initial 9-hole diamond drilling program has commenced on the Purple Heart prospect, part of the large Batu Perak mineralised system.
Purple Heart comprises an anomaly highly prospective for near-surface deposits of high-grade gold and silver identified through previous exploration activity.
The company said that the initial drilling program was expected to be completed over the next 2 months.
Results received from drilling at Batu Perak have revealed base metals, silver and gold intersections in all holes, and these results support the planned activity at the Purple Heart prospect, which is located adjacent to the existing drill holes at. Batu Perak.
Gary Lewis, Robust?s Managing Director, said ?Further exploration success at Batu Perak and our focus on determining the potential at Purple Heart could potentially add significant value to our Romang Island Project, and more particularly our initial oxide gold-silver-copper project.
The Company?s focus is on expanding the size of the Lakuwahi Oxide Project, which contains near surface oxide ore, to support our potential development plans. With a scoping study underway, the 2013 drilling program has been designed to progress this objective.
Surface indications at Purple Heart are such that we anticipate high-grade gold silver oxide ore, with drilling already underway to define this potential.
The potential for discovery of large, high-grade polymetallic suiphides, rich in lead, zinc, copper, gold and silver has been enhanced by the results received at Batu Perak. The recognition of this new style of volcanogenic ?ore? has led to a re-evaluation of the available data and the expansion of targets into extensive areas.
Therefore, potential for new discoveries on Romang Island remains strong and continues to grow.?
