ASX-listed mining firm Robust Resources Limited said Tuesday that it has decided to accelerate and extend its diamond-drilling program in Romang Island, East Nusa Tenggara.

Romang Island is a highly prospective area for precious metal mining, particularly gold and silver.

The decision has made following a review of the final assay results from the LWD 017 to LWD 022 drill holes which confirm significant gold and silver mineralization, the company said.

Robust has now completed 897.2 metres of drilling on the large caldera-hosted Lakuwahi gold-silver prospect on the island, and is on track to complete a 2,500 meter program by June this year.

The company has now decided to acquire a third NQ Core rig to extend the program to 5,000 meters a year.

The Romang Island project comprises five mineral titles with two more under application, covering the entire 25,000 ha volcanic island in the Banda magmatic arc. The Lakuwahi caldera forms the southern third of the island and is a mineralizing system comparable in size to that of the Lihir caldera in Papua New Guinea, according to the firm. (denny)
