UK based firm Rolls-Royce Plc. on Friday announced that Conoco Indonesia Inc. Ltd., unit of US based Conoco Inc. and PT SAAG Utama on behalf of Rolls-Royce have signed a five year comprehensive maintenance contract to service Rolls-Royce gas compression packages currently installed on the Hang Tuah Moveable Offshore gas Production Unit (MOgPU) and the Belida offshore platform in West Natuna.

The Hang Tuah production unit uses two Rolls-Royce Avon gas turbine driven centrifugal compressor packages; the Belida platform uses one.

These gas production facilities are critical for Indonesia to maintain the supply of natural gas required to meet contracts recently signed by Pertamina and SembCorp Gas, Singapore. This project, to build the largest international natural gas supply and delivery system in Asia Pacific, will provide Singapore with a clean burning fuel for future industry growth.

John Gaskell, President, Rolls-Royce Energy Business, said: ``This comprehensive maintenance contract with Conoco Indonesia Inc. Ltd. is a prime example of our dedication to supporting our clients and equipment over the entire life of the project, as well as our commitment to Rolls-Royce equipment in Indonesia.

``Integrating the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) into their operations as a risk-sharing partner is a novel approach, and Pertamina and Conoco Indonesia Inc. Ltd. lead the oil and gas industry in establishing comprehensive maintenance contracts with offshore presence. Currently we are working together with Conoco Indonesia Inc. Ltd. personnel on the Hang Tuah MOGPU facility, in preparation for delivery of 'first gas'.''

Rolls-Royce has a long history with Conoco Incorporated throughout the world. The company has also been involved with Pertamina since the 1980s and Conoco Indonesia Inc. Ltd. for the past six years. (alex)
