PT Rantaupanjang Utama Bhakti (RUB), which operates coal concession in Berau Regency, East Kalimantan Province, projects coal production next year to be flat at around 2.6 million tons.

RUB produces coal with low sulfur content of 0.2 to 0.3 percent, and calorific value of 4,200 kcal/kg (GAR).

?Our coal production plan in 2018 is 2.6 million tons, the same volume as this year,? Wilson Widjaja, Director of RUB, said to petromindo.com recently. RUB owns mining business permit (IUP) that covers 1,300 hectares of area.

Wilson stated that RUB transports coal through 12 kilometers hauling road to a jetty at Sungai Segah and then barges it as far as 90 nautical miles to Muara Pantai anchorage point. ?We deliver our coal to coal-fired power plants in India, Thailand and China,? Wilson said.

Wilson added that RUB?s coal product has low HGI (handgrove grindability index) which is preferred for stock and sale. ?Retail coal buyers prefer coal with low HGI,? he said.
