Rudi encourages Pertamina to use EOR

State-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina (Persero) has been asked to use the Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) technology to meet the production target of 200,000 bpd.

"To increase oil production to 200,000 bpd, I have called on Pertamina to use EOR technology," said the Chairman of SKK Migas Rudi Rubiandini at a hearing with Commission VII of the House of Representatives, Jakarta, Wednesday (30/1).

Rudi said that 70 percent of oil and gas fields owned by Pertamina are still virgin fields. "By using EOR technology, Pertamina is expected to reach the 200,000 bpd production target in the next five years," he said.

Currently, the company only managas to extract 120,000 bpd of oil from Indonesian fields, he said.
