Rudi to undergo first trial in early January

Suspended Chairman of Upstream Authority SKK Migas Rudi Rubiandini will undergo the first trial of his corruption case at the Jakarta Corruption Court in early January 2014.
Rudi is accused of accepting bribes and money laundering.
The investigation files of Rudi and his golf coach Deviardi, who served as a courier in the bribery case, have been declared complete (P21) and submitted to prosecutors on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2012.
The files was then transferred to the court on Dec. 24, 2013.
"The trial will be held in early January 2014," said KPK?s Director of Prosecution, Ranu Mihardja at KPK?s Building in Jakarta, Thursday.
Rudi was caught red-handed at his residence accepting cash bribes from Singaporean oil trader PT Kernel Oil Private Ltd (KOPL), delivered through Deviardi. Deviardi and KOPL?s commissioner Simon Gunawan Tanjaya were arrested alongside Rudi.
Simon has been sentenced to three years in prison. He was convicted of bribing Rudi of $700,000 at the behest of his boss in Singapore, Widodo Ratanachaitong. However, Widodo has not been examined by KPK or testify in court. In the trial, Simon and Rudi claimed not to know each other.
During the trial process of Simon, several names were mentioned with suspicion of being ?implicated? in the case or in one way or another. They include among others KOPL?s director Widodo Ratanachaitong, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Jero Wacik, Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Waryono Karno, the House Representative members Sutan Bhatoegana and Tri Yulianto.
