Russia?s Rosatom plans nuclear power plant in RI

Russia?s Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation plans to develop a nuclear power plant in Batam, Indonesia, in cooperation with the Indonesian Nuclear Energy Agency (Batan), Kontan reported on Friday.

The paper quoted Senior Expert Trade Representative of the Russian Federation in Indonesia, Sergey Kukushkin as saying that the Russian state-owned company was also looking for other partners for the planned mega project, which has been presented to the Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla.

Kukushkin said that Indonesia has huge uranium potential and that the planned nuclear power plant would help provide the country?s future energy supply.

He said that Rosatom plans to develop a 2x1,200 MW nuclear power plant in Batam with estimated investment of US$9 billion. (*)
