Russia wants to invest in oil and gas sector in Jambi

The Russian government is interested in investing in oil and gas sector in Jambi province, the Harian Ekonomi Neraca newspaper reported in its Saturday edition.

Jambi Governor Zulkifli Nurdin said his province has succeeded in creating a conducive business environment. That’s why Jambi has attracted several foreign investors to invest in the province.

“Recently, Russia has conveyed its intention to tap the oil and gas potential in Jambi province. But there is no agreement so far,” Zulkifli said in Jambi on Thursday.

He said his administration is currently discussing the Russian proposal. Russia is one of the countries, which has advanced technology and compete with the U.S. and Japan in terms quality and production.

“That’s why, the provincial administration is seriously considering the Russian proposal. Because it will be an opportunity to bring change in our economic development,” he said.

Petro China has been producing tens of thousands of barrels of oil from oil well in East Tanjung Jabung regency, Jambi, and exporting to Singapore.(*)
