Russian firm eyeing Indonesian exploration block

Russian firm Sintez Group is eyeing one of Indonesian exploration blocks which have been recently put on tender by the government, Russian ambassador said.

Russian ambassador for Indonesia, Alexander Ivanov -after a meeting with Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro in Jakarta on Monday- said that Sintez is interested to develop oil and gas sector in Indonesia.

He declined to give further detail.

Government has announced last Month the opening of the tender round for 25 exploration blocks through direct offer mechanism.

Meanwhile, Ministry of Energy?s Expert Staff R. Sukhyar said that Indonesian and Russian governments will soon sign memorandum of understanding to develop energy resources in Indonesia, which will be focused in oil, gas and geothermal sectors. (Bernard)
