A Russian investor has expressed keen interest to develop a coal-fired power plant in Penajam Paser Utara regency, in East Kalimantan, Kaltim Post reported on Monday.
"The Russian investor recently held a presentation on their proposal. We have given a positive response on the offer," the head of the regency's development planning board Ibrahim MM said.
He did not unveil the name of the Russian company but he said that the company had proposed to build coal-fired power plant with 2x5 MW capacity. The proposed power plant would take advantage of low grade coal deposits found in some areas in the regency, he added.
"We hope the Russian investor will provide all the funds needed for the project. We don't want the project to cause a problem in our budget," he said. (*)
