S. Kalimantan approves construction of Banjar Canal

South Kalimantan governor Syahriel Darham has supported a plan to build a canal in the Banjar regency I order to help the transportation of coal from the regency, Banjarmasin Post reported on Saturday.

?The governor however asked the regency to make a feasibility study before starting the canal construction,? the chairman of the regency?s development planning board (Bappedal) Ardiansyah Alkaderi said.

He said the feasibility study for the construction of the canal had been completed and would be soon submitted to the governor for a final approval. The canal, which will be ended in the Barito river, will be built by PD Baramarta.

In addition to the Banjar Canal, the South Kalimantan administration will also build a canal in the Tapin regency. (*)
