S. Kalimantan to build new power plant

A subsidiary of South Kalimantan-based Wira Toyota Motor will build a coal-fired power plant with a capacity of 2 x 60 Megawatt (MW) in the province?s regency of Banjar, local newspaper Banjarmasin Post reported on Monday.

?We will soon announce the name of the developer which is now still conducting a field survey and feasibility,? said Poernomo Willy, the general manager of the branch of state owned electricity company PLN in the province.

Willy said that the construction of the new power plant would be commenced in 2004. ?We hope it could be completed within a year,? he added.

Banjar resident warmly welcome the planned construction of the new power plant. ?We will support the construction of the new plant by, for example, simplifying the process of the licensing for the new power developer,? he added. (*)
