S. Sumatra coal miner to double coal output

South Sumatra coal mine PT Bara Alam Utama (BAU) plans to increase its coal production to 100,000 per month in the end of this year from 50,000 tonnes per month, currently, the company?s official has said.

The official told Petromindo.Com last week that despite it plans to double coal output in the end of this year, it did not plan to hire more contractors.

The company?s current coal contractors are PT AMKI and PT PIM, the official said without giving further details.

BAU has started coal production since mid 2009 with initial coal output of 20,000 tonnes per month.

BAU?s coal concession is 799 hectares of land in Merapi Barat district, Lahat regency with calorific value of 5,000-5,500 kcal/kg (ADB). (denny)
