The upstream oil and gas regulatory body, BPMIGAS, projected that U.S. oil giant Chevron's Sadewa gas field in East Kalimantan PSC, Makassar Strait would start production in 2013.
BPMIGAS new deputy head Abdul Muin said in Jakarta Sunday that Chevron would shortly submit its plan of development (POD) with respect to its exploration activities in Sadewa gas field. “Currently, they (Chevron) is discussing the POD,” he said as quoted by Bisnis Indonesia.
Earlier, BPMIGAS Deputy Chairman in charge of Planning, Achmad Luthfi said based on new calculations, natural gas reserves at Sadewa field are estimated at around 50-60 billion cubic feet (BCF) or only 10 percent of the earlier estimate of 500-600 BCF.
Achmad said the government wanted Chevron to review its development plan for the block to make it more efficient.
"We want Chevron to review its plan of development (PoD) because if Chevron only develops the Sadewa field, which has low reserves, it will not be efficient," Lutfi said on Feb 12 this year. (*)
