Salamander plans Kalimantan drilling campaign in 2010

UK oil, gas firm Salamander Energy will drill four exploration and appraisal wells on its East Kalimantan oil, gas exploration blocks next year.

The company revealed in a presentation released last week that it would start 2010 campaign with the drilling of Angklung-1 exploration well in Bontang PSC in the first quarter of 2010. According to the company, the prospect has`The company has 70 percent working interest in Bontang Block.

The following wells to be drilled would be Tutung A3 and South Sebuku 2 appraisal wells in the second and third quarter of 2010. Tutung A3 is located in Bontang PSC while South Sebuku is located in Bengara-1 PSC, where Salamander has 25% interest.

The last exploration in 2010 would be drilling of one well in Kutei PSC, where the company has 23.7% interest.

The company also said it would acquire 300km2 3D seismic at SE Sangatta PSC in 2010 with drilling of one or more wells seen to start in 2011. The company signed the PSC contract on the block in late 2008 and has 75% stake at the block.(alex)
