Salamander reaches rig sharing agreement with three firms

UK-based oil and gas firm Salamander Energy said it had entered into a rig sharing agreement with three oil and gas firms operating in Indonesia.
The company said in a press statement on Thursday that under the rig sharing consortium, it would use the rig for its upcoming drilling campaign in the North Kutei basin in East Kalimantan.
It has committed to drill the South Kecapi, South Kecapi side-track, North Kendang and Bedug prospects and had an additional four option well slots under the contract to allow follow up drilling in the event of success. It is estimated that drilling in the company's North Kutei acreage will commence in the fourth quarter 2012.
The rig sharing consortium has contracted the semi-submersible rig Ocean General, owned by a subsidiary of Diamond Offshore Drilling. The rig will be on contract to the consortium from July 1st.
The company stated that the rig sharing arrangement, which had been approved by the upstream authority BPMIGAS, was aimed at reducing costs of mobilization-demobilization, supply chain, shore base warehouse and waste management.
