UK oil and gas firm Salamander Energy said that it has started the construction of gas processing facility at its Kerendan gas field in Central Kalimantan, which will distribute gas to the planned Kerendan power plant owned by Indonesia?s state owned utility PLN.
The company said in its first-half 2013 financial report released Friday that PLN has awarded the contract for the construction of its Kerendan power plant to the Finnish power generation specialist Wartsila.
?That contract calls for start-up 15 months after signature. Production from the field is currently scheduled for start-up in 4Q 2014,? Salamander said.
The 320 MW power plant will be constructed 3 km from the Kerendan field, which contains 280 billion cubic feet (bcf) of certified resource.
