Salamander-Serica resume gas supply to PLN's Belawan power plant

The combined cycle PLTGU Belawan power plant in North Sumatra owned by state owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) started on Thursday receiving gas supplies from the Glagah Kambuna field offshore North Sumatra owned by UK firms Salamander Energy Pld and Serica Energy Plc.

The gas is being delivered at the rate of 10 mmcfd but the volume will be increased to 40 mmcfd through the end of the year, Nasri Sebayang, PLN's head of primary energy unit, said on Thursday.

Under the eight-year contract, the gas will be delivered at 35 mmcfd.

"Next year, the gas will be delivered at the rate set in the contract," Nasri said.

Salamander and Serica suspended supplies to the Belawan power plant on Sept. 25 after six weeks of production by PLN's request following a problem at the power plant's gas turbine.
