Salamander to drill North Kendang-2 well

London-listed Salamander Energy Plc plans to drill the North Kendang-2 well in the South East Sangatta block in June of this year, according to Petromindo.Com source.

?We will drill the North Kendang-2 well using the Ocean General semi-submersible rig in June to confirm the gas kick occurred in North Kendang-1 well, the source said.

The North Kendang-1 well was drilled in Feb, 2013. The drilling of the exploration well was quite operationally challenging due to high pressures, in particular, a large amount of rig time being expended in getting the well back under control due to severe gas kick.

Salamander as operator has 75 percent interest in the block and the remainder is owned by PT Kutai Timur Resources.
