The sale of East Kalimantan-based coal producer PT Kaltim Prima Coal's iron scraps and old vehicles received a strong opposition from two main youth organizations IPPKS and YKKBKS for lack of transparency in Sangatta.
The organizations in a letter sent to the local government said that the appointment of PT Antar Gunita Express by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to buy about five tons of iron scraps and 140 old vehicles from KPC was unfair.
The two organizations said that the appointment of the company hurt the local businessmen because they were not involved in the sale process of the junks. The old vehicles and the iron scraps are legally owned by the government.
PT AGE which began its operation in Kalimantan in 2000 had shipped part of the iron scraps and old cars outside the island. (*)
