The Samarinda House of Representatives plans to summon the management of oil and gas firm PT Vico Indonesia following complaints from local villagers over land compensation.
East Kalimantan Suara Kaltim daily reported on Wednesday that a small group of villagers from the Sei Siring area in North Samarinda held a protest at the local parliament.
The villagers claimed that Vico had not settled the compensation for some 10 ha of farming land which had been damaged due to Vico's seismic activity since 1997.
The protesters also lambasted the local administration for being too slow in processing the compensation demand.
In response to the protest, legislator Dicky Soesanto said that the House would summon Vico management.(*)
