Sampang PSC partnership drop plan to drill Wortel-3

Australian oil, gas firm Cue Energy Limited reported on Wednesday that the Sampang PSC partnership decided to drop plan to drill Wortel-3 delineation well.

?The new infill 2D seismic data has been processed and had been integrated into the interpretation of the field. The results indicate that a Wortel -3 appraisal well will not be needed and FEED for the development of the field is expected shortly, ahead of a project sanction decision in early first quarter 2009,? the company said

The well was originally planned to establish the full potential of Wortel discovery gas discovery, located 7 kms west of the Oyong gas field, which is located in Sampang PSC area, offshore East Java.

The block operator Santos Limited said in February 2008 that Wortel discovery, which is expected to come onstream in the second quarter of 2010 subject to final investment decision, would be able to produce gas at the rate of 40-60 MMCFD.

The participants in the Sampang PSC are: Santos (Sampang) Pty Ltd (Operator) 45%, Singapore Petroleum Company Limited 40%, Cue Sampang Pty Ltd 15%. (alex)
