Samsung eyes LNG terminal projects

South Korean conglomerate Samsung Group has stated interest to participate in development of LNG receiving terminals in Indonesia, a senior government official said on Tuesday.

Director General of Oil and Gas at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Evita Legowo said the Company is interested to act as EPC contractor or to invest in partnership with state oil and gas company PT Pertamina (Persero) or state gas distribution firm PGN in LNG terminal development of various size.

Pertamina and PGN are planning to develop a number of floating LNG terminals in Sumatra and Java to meet increasing domestic gas consumption.

Evita further said that another South Korean E&P company KNOC has also stated interest to conduct joint study in a view to acquire exploration blocks in Indonesia.

Evita said the South Korean companies? intentions were conveyed during the 3rd Indonesia-Korea Energy Forum (IKEF)" in Seoul last March. (bernard)
