Samudera Indonesia seeks LNG shipment contract

IDX-listed shipping company PT Samudera Indonesia Tbk will participate in a beauty contest to be held by PT Indonesia Power, a subsidiary of state-owned electricity company, for the shipment of LNG from Bontang in East Kalimantan to Benoa in Bali.

?We have just received the invitation for the beauty contest,? said Bani Maulana Mulia, a commissioner at Samudera Indonesia on Tuesday.

He said that Indonesia Power had actually held tender last month to select the shipping firm that would transport the LNG for a power plant project, but the number of participating bidders was quite small, prompting the electricity firm to repeat the selection process.

He said that if Samudera wins the beauty contest, the schedule of which has yet to be disclosed, the LNG shipment contract will valid for 5-7years.

He added that his company would allocate two vessels, storage and shuttle vessels, for the project.
