Singapore Exchange-listed shipping firm Samudera Shipping Line (SSL) said on Wednesday that its partly owned LNG vessel is expected to be delivered and start operation in the fourth quarter of 2008.

The 145,700 CBM LNG vessel is currently under construction by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. Ltd. The ship will be under 20 years time charter contract by Tangguh LNG to transport LNG from Berau/Bintuni Bay, West Papua province to South Korea and North America.

The vessel will be owned and operated by LNG East-West Shipping Company (Singapore) Pte Limited, where SSL has a 25 percent stake. The remaining stake is equally shared by Japanese shipping firm Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK) and Russian firm JSC Sovcomflot.

SSL is a subsidiary of Indonesian shipping group Samudera Indonesia.(denny)
