Singapore-listed Samudera Shipping Line Ltd said its Japan based unit has acquired two container vessels as part of efforts to build its initial fleet and expand operations.
The company said Blue Ocean Shipping Co., Ltd. (BOS), a subsidiary established in Japan, has completed the purchase and taken delivery of two vessels, MV Sagami and MV Hyogo, on March 17.
The ships were acquired from Imoto Lines Ltd under separate sale and purchase agreements and will form the core of BOS’s starting fleet, the company said in a statement.

The move follows Samudera’s earlier plan, announced in December 2025, to establish the Japan based entity as part of its expansion strategy in regional shipping markets.
Samudera said the acquisition is not expected to have a material impact on its earnings per share or net tangible assets for the financial year ending December 2026.
The company did not disclose the value of the transaction.
