Sana Tofa begins gold exploration

Mining company PT Sana Tofa has recently begun exploration activities at the company?s gold concession area in Tidore island, North Maluku soon after it secured a mining permit from the local government.

Spokesman for the local government on the Tidore island, Abas Mahmud said that the exploration result would determine whether or not the company would be able to continue with production stage.

?The local government hopes Sana Toda will find sufficient gold reserves so that it will be feasible enough for the company to carry out production activities,? he was quoted as saying by Antara.

He said that the presence of the company would be able to provide jobs for the local residents and additional revenues to the local government, if it could carry out mining activities. (*)
