PT Pertamina EP, a subsidiary of state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina, said that oil production at the Sangasanga field, in Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan, increased to around 8,400 bpd in July after having dropped to 6,300 bpd in May-June period.
Sangasanga field Manager, Andri Haribowo said that the higher output is a result of new drilling programs, workover programs at seven existing wells including NKL-1060 and LSE1055 wells, skin bypass at LSE-1076, LSE-1067, and NKL-1041 wells, and well service at NKL-896 and NKL-1042 wells.
?The increasing output at Sangasanga field was mostly attributed to maintenance of existing wells, one of which is NKL-1060, Pertamina EP Sangasanga field obtained production gain of up to 1,300 bpd,? said Asset 5 Senior Exploitation Manager, Agustinus Sugeng Rahmadi.
In a bid to meet production target in the second semester of this year, activities at the North Kutai Lama, Louise and Samboja structures will be optimized.
Pertamina EP Public Relations Manager, Muhammad Baron said that the higher production in July provided optimism to meet the second semester production target.
He said that production at Sangasanga field has significantly increased since it was taken over by Pertamina EP in 2008, when average output at the time stood at only 3,900 bpd.
