Sangatta West CBM block produces conventional gas, oil

Upstream authority BPMIGAS said that Ephindo as of April 11 has produced 2.43 mmscfd from one well at its Sangatta West CBM block.

Ephindo and Dart Energy are the joint operator of the block with 48 percent participating interest. PT Pertamina EP (PEP) holds the balance.

However, the production was not pure CBM as conventional gas and associative oil were also included, according to Haposan Napitupulu, Deputy of Development at BPMIGAS.

Haposan mentioned three reasons why it is a conventional production. No water was found (unlike CBM production), CBM only contains C1 but Ephindo?s production also contains C3 (similar to that of conventional), CBM production usually hovers below 1 mmscfd per well. Information on the amount of oil produced, however, could not be ascertained yet.

Haposan added therefore Ephindo has to give the production to PEP as the holder of conventional PSC block in the area.
