Santan sees production of 2.5MTPA

IDX-listed energy firm Indika Energy Tbk said its East Kalimantan unit PT Santan Batubara is targeted to produce 2.5 million tonnes of coal per annum in 2010 and 2011.

The Company said in a report make available to IDX on Friday that the mine has sold 660,000 tonnes in the first quarter of 2010 and had raised revenue of US$43.7 million.

Santan started production in March 2009.

The Company through its mining contractor unit PT Petrosea has 50 percent stake in Santan Batubara with Harum Energy, a company controlled by the Barki family, controls the remaining balance. Petrosea is responsible for mining activities at Santan while Harum is responsible for marketing.

According to Indika, Santan sells its coal production to domestic market and India, Korea and China.

Santan is the third generation CCoW holder with concession of 25,000 hectares in East Kutai regency. (alex/kanti)
