SANTI signs MoU with Pertamina, Summit Niaga for bioethanol and biomass production

PT Santi Energi Hijau, a subsidiary of consulting services and the Process and Mechanical Engineered Package Units (EPU) solutions PT Sahabat Nusantara Teknologi Inovasi (SANTI), announced on Tuesday that it has signed an MoU with PT Pertamina (Persero) and PT Summit Niaga to establish a joint study to explore the potential production of bioethanol and biomass from superior sorghum varieties.

Summit Niaga is a unit of Sumitomo Corporation.

This collaboration aims to leverage sorghum as a sustainable resource, contributing to the development of renewable energy solutions and bolstering the value chain for Indonesia's energy resilience.

“This partnership reflects our shared commitment to driving the energy transition with innovative, green energy solutions,” said a representative from Santi Energi Hijau. “By harnessing the power of sorghum, we are taking a significant step toward building a more sustainable future for Indonesia, focusing on renewable energy sources that are both environmentally and economically impactful.”

The collaboration is set to explore how bioethanol and biomass derived from sorghum can be utilized as viable alternatives to traditional energy sources, reducing carbon emissions while fostering local agriculture. The study also seeks to strengthen Indonesia’s position as a leader in the renewable energy sector, aligning with the country’s energy resilience goals and green energy ambitions.
