Santos abandons Baru Barat 1 well in C. Sumatra

Australian oil and gas firm Santos Limited said on Thursday that it had been plugged and abandoned Baru Barat 1 wildcat exploration well in Korinci-Baru production sharing contract (PSC) area onshore Central Sumatra after the well reached a total depth of 720 meters.
Santos planned total depth of 680 meters for Baru Barat 1.
According to Santos, the rig was released on January 22, 2002.
Santos, the block operator, holds 61.11 percent working interest in Korinci-Baru PSC, while another Australian firm Petroz holds the remaining 38.89 percent. (robert)
