Australia?s major oil and gas company Santos Pte Ltd said it has completed the drilling of Wortel-3 and Wortel-4 wells within the Sampang PSC offshore East Java in line with target.

?The drilling of Wortel-3 and Wortel-4 has been completed. The results of the drilling is not known yet as the operator still needs to conduct well testing,? Gde Pradnyana, spokesperson of the upstream authority BPMIGAS, told Petromindo.com. Gde however expressed his optimism about the results of the drilling of the two wells. ?It looks good,? he noted.

The Sampang PSC contains the Oyong, Wortel and Jeruk fields. The block is operated by Santos with 45 percent participating interest, Singapore Petrleoum Sampang Ltd with 40 percent and CUE Sampang Pty Ltd 15 percent.

The operator used jackup drilling rig called COSL Boss in drilling the two wells.

CUE said earlier that once the drilling of the two wells completed, the rig will then be relocated to the Oyong wellhead platform to drill and complete an infill Oyong production well.

CUE said in December the drilling program of the Wortel wells is expected to be accomplished within the original budget of US$105.1 million budget.
