Australian top oil company Santos Limited said it was preparing for commercialization of Central Sumatra gas field, a senior company executive said.

?Commercialization of the Bentu gas field is progressing for possible sale to Malaysia,? said Santos? managing director John Ellice-Flynt in an interview with CORPORATEFILE.COM.AU on Wednesday.

Pertamina had held talks with Malaysian national oil company Petronas to supply 300 million standard cubic feet per day of natural gas from Sumatra starting 2004, which would mainly come from Corridor block, which is operated by Gulf Indonesia Resources and other gas fields in the area, including the Jambi Merang block operated by Pertamina and CNOOC, and the Bentu block.

Sources in Pertamina said that the gas supply deal was expected to be sealed this year. (alex)
