Santos eyeing new exploration blocks

Australian top E&P firm Santos Limited said on Friday it might participate in the latest round of exploration blocks tender that are currently being held by the government.

?The announcement has just came out, and we are currently studying the prospective blocks, but there?s 90 percent cance that we are going to aprticipate,? Santos? indonesian president and general manager Gary N. Christenson told Petromindo.Com on the sideline of gas deals signing in Surabaya.

He did not say which area Santos was interested in, but stressing that Santos? focus of interest is currently in East Java and deep water Makassar Strait areas, where the company currently has significant presence.

In the latest round of bidding, government offered 14 exploration blocks through regular tender, of which two are located offshore East Java and four in Makassar Strait. (alex)
